| Wedding vows |
My commentary appears in read, the vows in black. Given the vows are taken out of context, I'll link the vows back to the original wedding in it's entirety, however some wedding scripts will only be linked from the vows and not through the table, so you may want to bookmark the scripts. |
This is an I do wedding, where the offcient states the vows as "Will you..." It is also a combined ring/vow ceremony.
Offcient:
"A circle is the symbol of the sun and the earth and the universe. It is a symbol of holiness and of perfection and of peace. In these rings it is the symbol of unity, in which your lives are now joined in one unbroken circle, in which, wherever you go, you will always return to one another and to your togetherness. VOWS: Groom Place your ring on Bride’s finger … Groom do you take Bride to be your wife? Your partner in life and one true love? Will you cherish your union and love her more each day than the day before. Will you trust her, respect her, laugh with her and cry with her, loving her faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles you may face together. Do you give her your hand, your heart and your love, from this day forward as long as you both shall live. If so say I do."
GROOM "I do" "As this symbol of your love is unbroken so shall be your promises to Bride."

A good officent know how many words to feed you at a time and sets a good repeat pace. Some things to watch is redundancy, as the vows below the final through good time and bad doesnt really need to be there, since sickness and health, joy and sorrow are the good and the bad Bride will you please repeat after me “I, Bride, take you, groom to be my husband, secure in the knowledge that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner in life, and my one true love.
I give to you in the presence of God and these witnesses my sacred promise to stay by your side as your loving and faithful wife in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad. I promise to love you without reservation, comfort you in times of distress, encourage you to achieve your goals, laugh with you and cry with you, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and cherish you completely and forever.”

I Love these vows I promise to encourage your individuality,
Because that is what makes you unique and wonderful.
I promise to nurture your dreams,
Because through them your soul shines.
I promise to help shoulder our challenges,
For there is nothing we cannot face if we stand together.
I promise to be your partner in all things,
Working with you as a part of the whole.
Lastly, I promise to you perfect love and perfect trust,
For one lifetime with you could never be enough.
This is my sacred vow to you, my equal in all things. |

Celtic Vows
Bride, I pledge to you the first bite of my meat, and the first sip of my wine I pledge to you my living and my dying, each equally in your care
I shall be a shield for your back , as you are for mine
I pledge to you, that yours will be the only name I cry aloud in the night and thy eyes into which I smile in the morning.
I shall honor you above all others
I shall not slander you, nor you me, and when we quarrel we shall do so in private and tell no strangers our grievances And above all I cherish you and only you, as long as we both shall live" Jan & John |
These vows are repeated in unison Will you face each other, hold hands, repeat after me, but speak to you partner…
Today, I join my life to yours.
From this day on, I will be your partner and companion, for you are my dearest love and my best friend.
I look forward to the joy I will find in your successes,
as well as the one we will share; I welcome the challenge of every obstacle we encounter,
for I know that whatever we face, we face it together.
Because your happiness is vital to me,
I will help you to grow as an individual.
Because you deserve no less than the best of me,
I will also strive to be the best I can be.
I pledge that I will listen to you when you speak,
encourage you when you doubt,
comfort you when you despair,
I will be your strength when you are uncertain.
I will be faithful to you all of my days, be honest with you always, and will cherish and adore you every moment of my life.
This is my solemn vow.
